Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research fellow to work on a Australian Research Council Large Grant funded project on formal methods in software requirements engineering. The project seeks to apply formal methods, specially formal knowledge representation and reasoning techniques such as those used for non-monotonic reasoning and belief revision, to address the problems of multi-perspective specification, inconsistency handling, evolution and support for non-functional requirements in requirements engineering. The project aims to develop improved, formally grounded, process models as well as practical tools to support requirements engineering processes. Applications of formal approaches to intelligent agent systems in this domain are also of interest. Opportunities exist for basic research on the knowledge representation and reasoning aspects of the problem as well as applications in requirements engineering tools.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related area with significant research experience in artificial intelligence and/or software engineering. Applications from candidates who are about to complete a Ph.D. are acceptable provided there is evidence that the degrees are likely to be completed in the next 6 months. The candidate should be able to conduct research of a theoretical nature, and be comfortable supervising the development of software engineering tools.
The University of Wollongong is located in a pleasant suburb about a 75 minute drive from the city center of Sydney.
Duration of appointment: The initial appointment will be for a period of one year, with the possibility of renewal.
Salary: Approximately $51,000 per annum (Australian dollars).
