Interesting question Brent.

I would look at this like the automobile industry. The car is made up of
many products. Each of those products also contain products. Its been
awhile since I worked in that industry but I think they defined the product
by an orderable piece of hardware. Now, to carry that over to
technological component, I agree that a technological component is a
product and can be made up of multiple products.
